AOS-2 Takes Effect, Opening Perp Listings to the Public

@Aster_DEX has activated AOS-2, its second Aster Open Standard, giving outside parties a formal route to apply for new perpetual market listings on the platform. The move marks a step toward decentralizing curation of the exchange's derivatives offerings, which currently span crypto, stocks, and commodities.

Under the new standard, applicants must stake 1,000,000 $ASTER to submit a listing request. The tokens are locked for four years with no early exit. Once submitted, the request goes to an on-chain validator vote. If the vote fails, the full stake is returned to the applicant.

Markets that pass the validator vote are then configured by Aster's risk team and scheduled to go live the following day.

Context: A Growing Governance Framework

Aster is a privacy-focused decentralized exchange offering perpetual markets on crypto, stocks, and commodities. It runs on Aster Chain, a purpose-built L1 designed for private perpetuals trading, capable of processing 100,000 or more transactions per second with 50ms block latency.

Governance participation is a core function of the $ASTER token, with holders able to vote on protocol upgrades, fee structures, and new features. AOS-2 extends that logic to the listing process itself, letting the validator set, rather than a central team, decide which markets are added.

Aster's strategy of listing new perpetual contracts has been creating high-impact market events. The listing of Tutorial (TUT) perps in early August triggered a 52 to 62 percent price surge and a short squeeze, while Biconomy (BICO) jumped 75 percent after its Aster listing. That backdrop gives the opening of AOS-2 added significance for projects seeking price discovery on a decentralized venue.

@Aster_DEX has confirmed that AOS-3 is already in development, suggesting the platform intends to continue building out its governance-driven listing framework.
