XRP And SHIB Gain Major New Access To UK Investors
Robinhood has launched crypto trading in the UK via Bitstamp, giving British investors zero-fee access to over 50 digital assets including $XRP, $BTC, $ETH, and more, all within a single investing app.
Robinhood Brings 50-Plus Tokens to UK Investors Through Bitstamp
Robinhood has launched cryptocurrency trading in the UK, giving British retail investors access to more than 50 digital assets directly inside its main investing app. Trading is offered through Bitstamp UK Ltd., which is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority as a crypto-asset service provider. The rollout began this week for eligible customers.
Available tokens include $BTC, $ETH, $XRP, Hyperliquid $HYPE, Cardano $ADA, Chainlink $LINK, and Shiba Inu, among others. The service adds crypto trading to the same platform where UK customers can already access stocks and shares ISAs, equities, options, and futures.
Robinhood is not rebuilding from scratch to power this expansion. The UK offering runs on the infrastructure picked up when Robinhood acquired Bitstamp for $200 million, closing the deal on June 2, 2025, and gaining more than 50 active licences and registrations across multiple jurisdictions. The UK piece fell into place on July 31, 2026, when Robinhood UK Ltd secured registration with the FCA as a cryptoasset firm, confirming it meets the regulator's anti-money laundering standards.
Zero Fees and AI Tools as Robinhood Eyes UK Growth
Robinhood said the new UK crypto service carries zero trading fees and no account maintenance or custody charges, though network fees may still apply to blockchain transfers. The launch also introduces Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto, a generative AI-powered feature that analyses breaking news, market data, and technical indicators to provide context around price movements in individual cryptocurrencies.
The timing is deliberate. The UK is building out a comprehensive crypto regulatory framework expected to take effect in 2027, and by securing FCA registration and launching services now, Robinhood positions itself as an established, compliant player before the new rules reshape the competitive landscape.
It is worth noting one key consumer protection caveat: crypto assets held through Bitstamp UK are not covered by the UK's Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service.
The UK expansion comes as Robinhood continues to diversify its revenue mix. Crypto transaction revenue fell 38% year over year to $100 million in the most recent quarter, while revenue from prediction markets rose to $156 million, surpassing crypto transaction revenue for the first time. The UK push signals that the company sees international retail demand as a key lever for its digital assets business going forward.
