@BlackRock's tokenized Treasury fund has expanded to @tempo, the payments-focused Layer 1 blockchain incubated by @stripe and @paradigm. The integration gives eligible users a way to move idle stablecoin balances into yield-bearing BUIDL fund shares without stepping outside on-chain workflows.

What BUIDL Is and Why Tempo Matters

BUIDL, short for the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, is a tokenized money market fund backed by short-duration US Treasury bills, repurchase agreements, and cash. Each BUIDL token targets a stable $1 net asset value and accrues yield daily via a rebase mechanism. The fund is restricted to qualified investors and has grown into one of the largest tokenized Treasury products in the market, sitting at roughly $3.0 billion in market cap as of June 2026.

Tempo is a payments-first Layer 1 blockchain incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, purpose-built for stablecoin settlement. The blockchain is built to deliver instant, deterministic settlement, predictably low fees, and a stablecoin-native experience. Tempo raised $500 million in Series A funding, valuing the company at $5 billion, led by Thrive Capital and Greenoaks. Its validator network already includes major financial names: Visa, Stripe, and Zodia Custody by Standard Chartered serve as the first external validators on the Tempo network.

Infrastructure Behind the Integration

BUIDL is a tokenized money market fund issued by BlackRock Financial Management in partnership with Securitize, a regulated digital asset securities firm. Securitize serves as transfer agent and broker-dealer, handling subscriptions, redemptions, and the KYC pipeline. On the data side, @redstone_defi supplies daily on-chain valuation and interest accrual feeds for the fund. RedStone operates across more than 110 chains and rollups and backs over $8.5 billion in total value locked, with integrations that include BlackRock's BUIDL fund through Securitize.

The Tempo listing is the latest step in BUIDL's ongoing multi-chain expansion. BlackRock recently expanded BUIDL to BNB Chain, its ninth blockchain network, using Wormhole for cross-chain interoperability. The broader tokenized real-world asset category continues to gain momentum, with the total tokenized RWA category on track to exceed $50 billion by end of 2026.
